The Child Care WAGE$ Project provides education-based salary supplements to low-paid teachers, directors, and family child care providers working with children between the ages of birth and five. The program serves North Carolina residents under age 21 with chronic or organic defects or conditions that hinder normal growth and development. Provides financial aid for medical bills including hospital and physician’s bills, rehabilitation, and equipment. Service is for chronic conditions only and not acute conditions. Purchases items directly for individuals, which typically include medical equipment, home modifications, and co-payments for treatments or medications not covered by the patient's insurance. Some examples: therapy equipment and sessions not covered by insurance, handicap accessible home and car modifications, mobility items, purchasing of developmental and learning devices, co-pays for medically necessary surgeries and medications, other medical needs as recommended by a medical professional.
