Community Center
The Salvation Army Community Center emphasizes positive, healthy experiences for at risk youth. We have adopted a three-point focus: Education, Recreation & Sports, and Families. The Community Center provides after-school care for many low income residents. Tuition is based on guardian income. These children are taught stress, character, and leadership development, education, life skills, creativity, fitness and recreation. Resources available to our staff and children include a gym, recreation area, and computer lab equipped with high speed internet service.
Community helps Network is a privately owned agency that initiates, provides and promotes services for people with mental illness and their families with the communities, in order to strengthen their independence, self-esteem and ability to participate in and contribute to community life.
Community resources, referral, support organization& providing advocacy, mentoring, skills and leadership development, awareness and enrichment opportunities. Also provides & skills to empowerment and skill development, provide awareness, enrichment opportunities to enhance and promote good citizenship.

Connections of Cumberland County operates the only “walk-in” Day Resource Center with intensive case management specifically designed to serve women and children who are homeless or facing homelessness. Our goal is to assist our clients to become safe and self-sufficient by collaborating with all homeless services possible. We avoid unnecessary duplication of existing services and collaborate to efficiently leverage available services. Our guiding principle is that every child needs a safe and nurturing environment in order to grow to be a responsible, self-reliant adult, and every homeless mother needs shelter in order to improve her life and the lives of her children.

Coordinates the planning and execution of the annual Dogwood Festival, held the 4th weekend in April. This event encompasses approximately 30 events which target all members of the community. Also coordinates an annual fall event called Historic Hauntings: A Ghastly Ghost Tour. This tour, conducted via hayride, explores the mysterious happenings of downtown Fayetteville with ghostly re-enactors and story-tellers highlighting the history and spooky legends of the past.
Counseling for adloscent problems, job stress, grief, marriage and family problems.
Deaf-Blind Specialists provide services to meet the unique needs of persons who have hearing impairments in addition to blindness. These services help individuals to live independently in their homes and communities. Community Outreach Services might include: assessment of needs; referral, advocacy and support services; and consultation, education and training for the consumer, family members and other service providers.
Delivers layette packages to new mothers (E4 and below) who have their babies at Womack Army Medical Center.
Distributes food to non-profit organizations that deal with the needy, including church pantries, soup kitchens, child-care providers and senior-citizen programs. Accepts donations of food.
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is an early literacy program that mails age-appropriate books to registered children on a monthly basis. The books are mailed in the child's name in an effort to create a sense of excitement about getting new books. Children can receive the books from birth to their fifth birthday, regardless of family income. DPIL is often coordinated through a local nonprofit organization, such as a library. The sponsoring organization selects a geographic area to target for book distribution and raises the funds to cover the cost of the books. Parents can also register children online.
Donations provide Christmas dinners, clothing, and toys for families in need. Financial assistance also helps with basic necessities, along with seasonal aid. Families of prisoners often are included.
Dorothy Gilmore Recreation Center plans, organizes, and directs structured and affordable leisure time activities for children, adults, and seniors.
Drug Treatment Court (DTC) is a supervised treatment alternative designed to break the cycle of substance abuse and related crimes. The DTC supervises and assists chemically dependant, non-violent offenders with treatment in a rehabilitative environment monitored by the court.
Each summer the ASYMCA sponsors the &Kids Olympics. This program teaches children and parents the importance of sportsmanship, health, and fitness. Every child receives a participation medal and a T-shirt, along with other medals they may win in each of the 10 events. Each event is divided into the following age categories: 5-6 year- olds, 7-8 year-olds, 9-10 year-olds, and 11-12 year-olds. Boys and girls compete separately.
Early Head Start (EHS) is a comprehensive, flexible child development and parenting education program delivered through home visitation, center‐based services to children and families, or a combination of both delivery modes. Parent‐child activity groups may also be part of the program. The focus of the parent component is to assist parents build skills to assist their child's development, increase family literacy, and promote healthy parent‐child relationships. Providers also give parenting support and education, and assist families with transitioning their children into Head Start or other preschool programs when the child reaches age three. Family advocacy, resource and
referral to other community services are also provided.
E E Miller Recreation Center plans, organizes, and directs structured and affordable leisure time activities for children, adults, and seniors.
Eligible participants may receive help with glaucoma medications, eye drops for acute infections, cataract surgery when visual acuity is severely affected, laser surgery for diabetes and retinal tears, and emergency eye related surgeries.
Emergency assistance includes food - rent - utilities - local bus passes - baby clothes, and other items. Family support casework management and psychosocial counseling are also available.
