Boy Scouts prove themselves in an environment that challenges their courage and test their nerve. After they've been given the proper guidance from those with experience and know-how, the take their own lead, going places they've never gone, seeing thins they've never seen, and diving into the rugged world of outdoor adventure, relying on teamwork, and character to accomplish what everyone else thinks is impossible.
The curriculum consists of seven courses, each designed to be about two hours in length: the introductory course, a course focused on each of the five protective factors (each exploring one or two program strategies) and a final review and reflection course that helps participants move from knowledge to action. The introductory course can serve as a brief, stand-alone Strengthening Families™ 101 training. This resource is for anyone who works with children and families, including parents, practitioners and supervisors. At several points, participants have the option to select material that relates to specific areas of work, such as early care and education, child welfare or family support.
Offers year-round outdoor adventures and residential or day camp programs at four camp properties including Camp Graham (Henderson, NC), Camp Hardee (Blounts Creek, NC), Camp Mary Atkinson (Selma, NC), and Camp Mu-Sha-Ni (Jackson Springs, NC). Girls can experience canoeing, archery, crafts, outdoor cooking and more.

Enriches, inspires and serves the region as a dynamic center for the collection, culture and aesthetic display of plants. Promote environmental stewardship and provides educational resources for the community. Offers walking trails, special events, tours, and school projects. Care Coordination for Children is a voluntary program available to all children of Cumberland County. From birth to five years children with special health care - developmental and social needs are served. Care management services are provided by trained nurses and social workers to assist families in improving health care for their children.
Carolina Collaborative Community Care offers care management and disease management services to improve health outcomes and reduce Medicaid care cost. Serving Carolina Access Medicaid patients and their medical providers located in Cumberland County. To receive services, clients must be a Carolina Access Medicaid enrollee.
Emergency assistance includes food - rent - utilities - local bus passes - baby clothes, and other items. Family support casework management and psychosocial counseling are also available.

Provides developmental child care in three delivery systems: center based, home based, and alternative child care options through Supplemental Programs and Services. Child care provisions can be made for children from four weeks of age to 12 years for full day, part day, hourly, extended, long term and special needs care. Programs are offered in eleven development centers: Alexander, Bauguess, Cook, Eagle, Fernandez, Loredo, Maholic, Prager, Rodgers, Rodriguez and Stout.
Provides breakfast and lunch daily at no cost or at reduced prices for students who qualify. Free and reduced meals applications may be obtained at individual schools or through the Child Nutrition Office.
Provides pre-placement, post-placement, step-parent and relative adoption services for individuals or families living in North Carolina. Post-adoption, foster care, and birth parent services provided.
Provides investigative reports of neglect, abuse dependency, or exploitation, evaluates the degree of damage or risk to the child; cooperate with law enforcement agencies and initiates court action when necessary, counsels and plans with the child's family toward the solution and prevention of problems causing neglect, abuse dependency, or exploitation, and arranges for the provisions of services.
Provides early intervention supports & services for infant and toddler children with special developmental needs and their families. Provides service coordination and treatment planning which may include physical, occupational, speech and language or developmental therapy as needed. Anyone may refer a child as long as the parents are notified.
The program serves North Carolina residents under age 21 with chronic or organic defects or conditions that hinder normal growth and development. Provides financial aid for medical bills including hospital and physician’s bills, rehabilitation, and equipment. Service is for chronic conditions only and not acute conditions. Call the CSHS Helpline to find out what conditions are covered.
Assists individuals with rare diseases with medically related financial needs, veterans and first responders in need of quality of life enhancements, and underfunded education programs and nonprofit organizations serving these populations.
Helps with medically related needs and quality of life enhancements. Purchases items directly for individuals, which typically include medical equipment, home modifications, and co-payments for treatments or medications not covered by the patient's insurance. Some examples: therapy equipment and sessions not covered by insurance, handicap accessible home and car modifications, mobility items, purchasing of developmental and learning devices, co-pays for medically necessary surgeries and medications, other medical needs as recommended by a medical professional.
Not able to assist with past medical bills, funeral costs, lost family income due to disability or death in the family, experimental procedures that do not have federal or other governmental body approval, In Vitro Fertilization Costs (IVF).
