Provides services for adults with developmental disabilities. Operates residential living facilities and day programs which provide job training and job placement; independent living skills instruction; and adult education classes.
Deaf-Blind Specialists provide services to meet the unique needs of persons who have hearing impairments in addition to blindness. These services help individuals to live independently in their homes and communities. Community Outreach Services might include: assessment of needs; referral, advocacy and support services; and consultation, education and training for the consumer, family members and other service providers.
Temporary financial assistance for individuals and families. All payments go directly to the vendor. Based on income eligibility.
Crisis Intervention Program (CIP): provides utility assistance with heating and cooling costs. Only provides assistance for emergency situations; must have final notice.
Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP): provides utility assistance with emergency and non emergency heating costs. Applications will be taken from the beginning of December until the end of March for households that include a person who meets at least one of the following criteria: Is age 60 or older OR disabled. Applications will be taken the beginning of January until the end of March for all other households as long as funds are still available.
Assists adults who are not native English speakers in reading, writing, and speaking. Basic living and employability skills are taught. Students are placed in class levels with other students who have similar language needs.
Information, screening, and referral for family members with special needs.
Services include: High School Financial Planning-personal financial management education. More In My Basket-promotes food security through outreach education about the NC Food and Nutrition Program, Steps to Health-Older adult program focusing on nutrition and food dollar management.
First Time Homebuyers Program provides financial and technical assistance with down payment, closing costs or gap financing for first time home buyers.
Provides a planned, sequential K-12 program that integrates information about specific health topics, capable of enhancing the quality of life, raising the level of health, and favorably influencing the learning process.
An annual event held in April that celebrates kids' health issues, to include the spirit and minds, as well as the body. These free event features live snakes, the climbing wall, tie-dying, baseball throw, face painting, bubble making, K-9 demonstration, castle bouncer, basketball, and lots of free give-a-ways.
Helps unemployed and underemployed people find jobs or training. Offers classes and seminars for self-improvement and job seeking skills, such as resume writing, interviewing techniques, career planning and communication skills. Books and materials are furnished. Call for class times. Classes include online job search and application skills.
Assists severely disabled people in developing skills and making environmental changes that will enable them to live independently. Provides guidance and counseling, rehabilitation engineering, attendant care and attendant management training, home and vehicle modifications, housing information and placement assistance, and assists with certain equipment purchases. Serves Cumberland, Bladen, Harnett, Hoke, Sampson, Robeson, Moore, Scotland counties. Rehab goals are to help with return to work and maintaining job.
Eligible participants may receive help with glaucoma medications, eye drops for acute infections, cataract surgery when visual acuity is severely affected, laser surgery for diabetes and retinal tears, and emergency eye related surgeries.
Annual event held in March to promote quality time for mothers and daughters of all ages. Goody bags for all & ladies and lots of door prizes.
The NC Foreclosure Prevention Fund helps North Carolina homeowners who are struggling to make their mortgage payments due to job loss or temporary financial hardship, such as divorce, illness, or death of a spouse. The Fund also assists returning veterans who are transitioning to civilian jobs. In addition, the Fund assists homeowners who are re-employed or on a fixed income after an eligible hardship but are earning less and unable to afford their mortgage.
For qualified homeowners, the Fund can pay your mortgage and other related expenses up to $36,000 for a maximum of 36 months.
Provides home visits, infant care, and parenting classes.
The WIC program provides nutrition education and supplemental foods, breast feeding promotion/support to pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women, infants, and children up to age five. Participants must meet residency, income and medical/nutritional risk eligibility requirements.
Offers child care assistance to current curriculum students enrolled at Fayetteville Technical Community College. Single parents, displaced homemakers or students who would not be able to continue their education without the availability of child care scholarships are eligible.
Provides adjustment services for children in foster care placement and their parents through individual & family counseling. Clients can be referred to the program by any social worker at the Department of Social Services.
