Provides 1525 tenant-based Housing Choice Vouchers that are currently under lease in Fayetteville/Cumberland County. The Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program is not currently taking applications. There are more than 700 families on the waiting list. It is not anticipated that applications will be accepted again until after 2011. Public notices will be given when applications will be accepted in the future. Contact the Section 8 Office for more information.
Judo instruction at the club stresses respect, control, and dignity in addition to athletic ability. Membership fees are affordable thanks to the Fayetteville Police Department and our volunteer coaches. The Police Department allows us to use the Police Training Facility for instruction and classes. Our coaches volunteer immeasurable hours teaching and working with students. The only compensation they need is the reward of knowing Fayetteville Ft. Bragg Judo Club members are more knowledgeable, more skilled and more confident.

Teaches adults basic reading, writing, math, money management, problem solving, and employability readiness skills.
Provides remedial instruction to eligible learning-delayed, MR-documented adults 18 years of age or older. Included in the program are lessons in reading, mathematics, social sciences, and consumer education.
Assists adults who are not native English speakers in reading, writing, and speaking. Basic living and employability skills are taught. Students are placed in class levels with other students who have similar language needs.
FTCC offers a comprehensive educational program, including over 150 programs of study. In addition, FTCC offers a variety of college transfer programs for those who are pursuing a baccalaureate. Their laboratories are equipped with the latest technology, and outstanding faculty and staff. They are here to assist you in reaching your educational goals. FTCC provides extensive support services that range from academic advising and counseling, to securing financial aid, to assistance in job placement, when you graduate.
Helps unemployed and underemployed people find jobs or training. Offers classes and seminars for self-improvement and job seeking skills, such as resume writing, interviewing techniques, career planning and communication skills. Books and materials are furnished. Call for class times. Classes include online job search and application skills.
Offers child care assistance to current curriculum students enrolled at Fayetteville Technical Community College. Single parents, displaced homemakers or students who would not be able to continue their education without the availability of child care scholarships are eligible.
The Workforce development Center provides services to youth, unskilled adults, dislocated workers, and welfare-to-work recipients for entry and re-entry into the labor force, by offering occupational skills/training and job search placement activities. The WDC also administers the Summer Youth Employment (youth work permit) and Training Program for youth ages 14-21, and the Five Percent Older Individual Activity Program for persons 55 years or older who need help obtaining employment.

Volunteers work one-on-one teaching reading and writing skills to Cumberland County adults reading below a 6th grade level.
A program of Fayetteville Urban Ministry that offers food, clothing, household items and personal care items to individuals in need. Donations and volunteers are needed in all aspects of this program.
Emergency Services: 9:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Fayetteville Urban Ministry offers a wide variety of programs and services. Some of those services are, emergency assistance with food, clothing, and firewood. They also serve at risk kids, provide house repairs for the elderly and low income families, and help homeless people find suitable housing. Some of the programs provided are, adult literacy, one-on-one mentoring, and student support programs.
Provides the juvenile court system an alternative to help deter young people ages 6-19 from placement into training schools. The youth participating are presently involved, or at risk of becoming involved, in the court system.
Provides youth with positive role models by matching youth with adult volunteers in a mentor-protege relationship. Each volunteer is required to spend 4 hours per week for a full year with his or her youth.
Provides group sessions with guidance in identifying problems and setting goals for the future. Educational, recreational, and cultural activities are included.
