The Human Resources Unit provides a positive recruitment program in an effort to establish and maintain an effective work force. Employee selection is based upon ability, experience, intelligence and character disregarding race, age, religion, sex, national origin, veteran status, or physical handicap of an otherwise qualified individual.
Helps unemployed and underemployed people find jobs or training. Offers classes and seminars for self-improvement and job seeking skills, such as resume writing, interviewing techniques, career planning and communication skills. Books and materials are furnished. Call for class times. Classes include online job search and application skills.
Vaccinations for children and adults. Overseas travel vaccinations. Copies of shot records may be obtained for school/college/work providing individual requesting is entered into the NC Immunization Registry. TB skin testing for school /work is also provided.
In-School Scouting is an optional coeducational opportunity for separate EC classes that provides hands on scouting experiences during the school day for students with disabilities. The leaders of the troops are the classroom teachers and teacher assistants. The scouts are registered members of Boy Scouts of America and Pines of Carolina (Girl Scouts), and experience modified activities that may lead to earning badges. In the past, the activities have included attending jamborees, enjoying field trips, and participating in Days of Caring.
Assists severely disabled people in developing skills and making environmental changes that will enable them to live independently. Provides guidance and counseling, rehabilitation engineering, attendant care and attendant management training, home and vehicle modifications, housing information and placement assistance, and assists with certain equipment purchases. Serves Cumberland, Bladen, Harnett, Hoke, Sampson, Robeson, Moore, Scotland counties. Rehab goals are to help with return to work and maintaining job.
Provides a variety of programs designed to enhance the quality of life for people with disabilities and their families,including physical rehabilitation,individual and family support services, and advocacy programs.
Specialty services for individuals with HIV and other infectious diseases. ID specialists - both local and from regional academic medical centers - provide comprehensive medical care. Medical case management and comprehensive peer education services are available.
The Institute for Community Leadership is Fayetteville and Cumberland County's joint community leadership program. It is designed to provide local citizens the opportunity to participate in activities leading to community leadership, volunteer service, and membership on local boards and commissions.
This is an intensive, wrap-around program for high-risk, court involved youth that uses a restorative justice, personal responsibility and social/cognitive skills building approach.
Fall event following 4th Friday in September. Showcases the historic and artistic customs and traditions of many different cultures. Exhibits - entertainment - refreshments and featured astists all combine to bring the art of Fayetteville to everyone and free to everyone!
Provides group sessions with guidance in identifying problems and setting goals for the future. Educational, recreational, and cultural activities are included.
Employment Services, Unemployment Insurance, Career Resource Center, Re-employment services workshop, Veteran's services, Former Offeneder services, Federal Bonding. We have partner agencies located in the office that assist with training programs, vocational rehabilitation, financial aid, and the community college.
Annual event held the first Friday of November that provides Junior Enlisted Soldiers and Airmen with a day of golf, food, and fun at no cost to the service member. In addition, the event provides the community with the opportunity to meet the Soldiers who serve.
