About the author:

Selena Beckman-Harned is a native North Carolinian (born in Chapel Hill, raised in Cary) who has worked as a writer, editor, graphic designer, library marketer, and tea salesperson before her current occupation of stay-at-home-mom to a two-year-old. She studied psychology and creative writing at UNC-Chapel Hill before venturing to Carnegie Mellon to receive a Master’s of Professional Writing. After a brief, delightful stay in the land of Heinz, she returned to North Carolina, landing in Fayetteville in 2011 when her librarian husband found employment with the public library. When she’s not writing freelance articles, Selena volunteers with breastfeeding support group La Leche League, sings soprano with the Cumberland Choral Arts, tries to keep up with two book clubs and enjoys cross-stitching and collage art.
