Regional Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R) Services provide leadership and support for early care and education across Region 5. These services are funded by the North Carolina Division of Child Development and Early Education (DCDEE). Regional CCR&R Services coordinates several statewide quality improvement initiatives and offers core services to families, communities, and providers.


Child Care Resource & Referral Provides Core Services for Families and Communities

  • Families
    • Referrals to child care programs
    • Workshops on choosing quality child care
    • Information on child care regulations and quality

  • Communities
    • Data collection on child care trends in Region 5
    • Maintenance of a regional child care provider database
    • Outreach to promote high-quality child care
    • Collaboration with businesses on child care workforce issues

  • Child Care Providers (including school-age programs)
    • Technical assistance and training for new and existing child care businesses
    • Professional development workshops
    • Ongoing support for licensed school-age programs

Regional Quality Improvement Initiatives Coordinated in Region 5

  • Regional Promoting Healthy Social Behaviors (HSB) Project
    • Supports child care providers who serve children with challenging behaviors
    • Behavior Coaches offer on-site and virtual assistance to strengthen classroom practices

  • Regional NC Birth to Three Quality Initiative (B-3QI)
    • Enhances quality in infant and toddler classrooms across Region 5
    • Infant-Toddler Quality Coaches provide free coaching and consultation to caregivers
