In her debut address as the new president of Partnership for Children of Cumberland County president, Mary Sonnenberg praised the work the organization has done in preparing children for school and the years beyond. But she warned against complacency. “We need to do more,” she said. “It’s not enough. We’re not done.”  “We have to work together,” she said. “One agency or entity cannot do this work alone.”

Also during the meeting, adult volunteer Desiree Leacock and youth volunteer Kyra Nehls were honored. Incoming board members Julie Aul, Marcus Hedgepeth, and Sarah Smith Pitts were recognized.

Board member Perry Melton said the “Cirque du Soiree” fundraiser will include acrobats and other circus-themed entertainment. “It’s going to be the most fun, most exciting fundraiser this town has ever seen,” he said.
