Come gain a better understanding of what child abuse and neglect is, how these negative behaviors affect children, how to recognize signs of abuse/neglect, and what you can do to help children who are the victims of abuse/neglect.

Allergies – Anaphylaxis and Emergency Treatment
in Child Care

Training developed by the North Carolina Child Care Health and Safety Resource Center covering allergies, anaphylaxis and emergency treatment in child care. Participants will learn about allergies and common allergens, how to reduce the risk of developing allergies and reduce exposure to allergens, to recognize signs and symptoms of severe allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, become familiar with proper storage and use of epinephrine auto-injectors, how to follow emergency follow up procedures and about required documentation.

Overview: Prevention of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and Use of Safe Sleep Practices

Participants will learn the definitions of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and Accidental Suffocation and Strangulation in Bed and the associated risk factors. They will learn which North Carolina child care rules address the prevention of SIDS and infant safe sleep. The training also provides guidance on how to support and create a safe sleep environment.

Foundations

June 12 & June 14, 2018

This course will provide participants with an introduction to Foundations, North Carolina’s new Early Learning and Development expectations, how they are structured, and how to implement them in early childhood settings. Participants will construct the knowledge base necessary to use the standards in supporting children in their learning and development by embedding the expectations in daily classroom planning and practice .

You must attend both nights to receive credit
