Established in 1964, the Action Pathways, formerlly Cumberland Community Action Program, Inc. (CCAP), strives to develop and operate projects that promote the economic and social well-being of individuals, children, families, and communities. CCAP has a long history of providing sustainable programs to the surrounding community with a visible impact throughout southeastern North Carolina, providing life-changing assistance to hundreds of thousands of individuals and families on an annual basis. CCAP is the parent organization for the Second Harvest Food Bank of Southeast North Carolina (SHFB SE NC); the Consumer Credit Counseling Services (CCCS); the Comprehensive Housing and Weatherization Programs; Self-Sufficiency Programs (ASPIRE); and Head Start. Our goal is to help seniors and recovering patients who prefer to stay in their own home while receiving personal care. We arrange for non-medical in-home care visits from registered nurses, personal care aids, and certified nurse assistants. We carry a wide range of packages to suit a variety of budgets and needs. A 3 hour daily minimum applies.
Meals on Wheels for adults 60 and over. Minor home repair, in home-aid, telephone reassurance program, Senior companion program and Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP) which helps to better understand medicare.
Fayetteville Urban Ministry offers a wide variety of programs and services. Some of those services are, emergency assistance with food, clothing, and firewood. They also serve at risk kids, provide house repairs for the elderly and low income families, and help homeless people find suitable housing. Some of the programs provided are, adult literacy, one-on-one mentoring, and student support programs.
The Habitat for Humanity-Fayetteville Area provides affordable housing for low-income families in Cumberland, Bladen, and Sampson counties. Volunteers provide funds, land, labor, materials, and administrative assistance to build homes that are sold to low-income families through no-interest loans. Selected families participate in the construction. They also accept donations of money, tools, and new building materials.

It is the mission of CCAP’s Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) to reduce energy costs for low-income families, particularly for the elderly, people with disabilities, and children, by improving the energy efficiency of their homes while ensuring their health and safety.
