Established in 1964, the Action Pathways, formerlly Cumberland Community Action Program, Inc. (CCAP), strives to develop and operate projects that promote the economic and social well-being of individuals, children, families, and communities. CCAP is the parent organization for the Second Harvest Food Bank of Southeast North Carolina (SHFB SE NC); the Consumer Credit Counseling Services (CCCS); the Comprehensive Housing and Weatherization Programs; Self-Sufficiency Programs (ASPIRE); and Head Start. The Salvation Army Community Center emphasizes positive, healthy experiences for at risk youth. We have adopted a three-point focus: Education, Recreation & Sports, and Families. The Community Center provides after-school care for many low income residents. Tuition is based on guardian income. These children are taught stress, character, and leadership development, education, life skills, creativity, fitness and recreation. Resources available to our staff and children include a gym, recreation area, and computer lab equipped with high speed internet service.
