4-H offers clubs, special interest programs, summer camps, school enrichment and after-school child care. 4-H’ers gain knowledge, skills and experience that help them become responsible citizens and leaders.
Established in 1964, the Action Pathways, formerlly Cumberland Community Action Program, Inc. (CCAP), strives to develop and operate projects that promote the economic and social well-being of individuals, children, families, and communities. CCAP has a long history of providing sustainable programs to the surrounding community with a visible impact throughout southeastern North Carolina, providing life-changing assistance to hundreds of thousands of individuals and families on an annual basis. CCAP is the parent organization for the Second Harvest Food Bank of Southeast North Carolina (SHFB SE NC); the Consumer Credit Counseling Services (CCCS); the Comprehensive Housing and Weatherization Programs; Self-Sufficiency Programs (ASPIRE); and Head Start. Provides children ages 5 to 13 years old an affordable, fun, safe place to come after school; homework assistance; tutoring; games; and recreation.

Provides developmental child care in three delivery systems: center based, home based, and alternative child care options through Supplemental Programs and Services. Child care provisions can be made for children from four weeks of age to 12 years for full day, part day, hourly, extended, long term and special needs care. Programs are offered in eleven development centers: Alexander, Bauguess, Cook, Eagle, Fernandez, Loredo, Maholic, Prager, Rodgers, Rodriguez and Stout.
Community Center
The Salvation Army Community Center emphasizes positive, healthy experiences for at risk youth. We have adopted a three-point focus: Education, Recreation & Sports, and Families. The Community Center provides after-school care for many low income residents. Tuition is based on guardian income. These children are taught stress, character, and leadership development, education, life skills, creativity, fitness and recreation. Resources available to our staff and children include a gym, recreation area, and computer lab equipped with high speed internet service.
