Vision, Mission, Goals & Objectives
2009-2010
Vision Statement: We envision a community committed to the health, safety, happiness, and education of all of our children and their families.
Mission Statement: To build partnerships with families and the community so that all children have the opportunity to succeed in school and be prepared to contribute to our social and economic future.
Goals/Objectives
- Cumberland County children birth through age 5 are healthy and prepared to succeed when they enter school.
- Cumberland County children have a source of coordinated, comprehensive, and family-centered primary health care. {MEDICAL HOME}
- Cumberland County children screened and identified for follow up services will be assessed and will receive appropriate early intervention services. {EARLY INTERVENTION}
- Cumberland County children are raised in a safe, supportive, and nurturing family environment. {SAFE ENVIRONMENT}
- All children make progress in their development. {SCHOOL READINESS}
- Cumberland County children experience smooth transitions, with easy adjustments, from home, preschool or other types of child care programs into the formal education system . {KINDERGARTEN TRANSITION}
- Cumberland County families of children birth to age 5 effectively fulfill their roles as the primary providers, and teachers, helping their children reach their full potential.
- Families have the knowledge and skills needed to insure that their children enter school healthy and ready to learn. {PARENT/FAMILY DEVELOPMENT}
- Families have the knowledge and skills to participate in literacy related activities with their children. {FAMILY LITERACY}
- Families have the information they need to select quality child care for their children. {CHILD CARE & COMMUNITY RESOURCE & REFERRAL}
- Cumberland County children experience smooth transitions, with easy adjustments, from home, preschool or other types of child care programs into the formal education system . {KINDERGARTEN TRANSITION}
- All Cumberland County families of children birth to age 5, including those with special needs, have access to high quality, affordable early childhood services, education, and other services that support them in their parental roles.
- Children, regardless of need, have access to child care, if families want and/or need it. {SUPPLY OF PLACEMENT}
- Every regulated program has a 3- or higher rating or is nationally accredited. {QUALITY PLACEMENTS}
- Directors and teachers in regulated child care programs hold an associate’s degree in early childhood education. {PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT}
- Teachers in regulated child care programs are compensated at a rate comparable to public school teacher staffing with equivalent education and education in the county. {TEACHER COMPENSATION}
- Staff in regulated child care programs has access to health insurance and sick leave. {STAFF BENEFITS}
- Regulated child care centers retain qualified, competent staff. {STAFF STABILITY}
- There is a blending of communication and interaction of Early Care and Education programs and Kindergarten. {KINDERGARTEN TRANSITION}
- Cumberland County values all children birth to age 5 and families by providing options, resources, and support collaboratively to help children and families reach their full potential.
- A comprehensive and coordinated service system that builds on the strengths and meets the needs of diverse children and their families. {SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT}
- A systematically designed evaluation design that provides sufficient information about the benefits and quality of the system that can be used for accountability and system improvement. {MONITORING AND EVALUATION}
- The community is aware of services and actively values and supports services for children. {PUBLIC AWARENESS & SUPPORT}
- Child care and service providers have the needed tools to increase their capacity to provide high quality coordinated services. {CAPACITY BUILDING}
